About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Istanbul to Sydney via Chengdu Airport as Pakistani national

Hello,

I am a Pakistani national with a Finland student residence permit.

I have a flight from Istanbul to Sydney through Sichuan Airlines with a single layover of 20 hours at TFU Chengdu Tianfu International airport, I have a couple of questions.

1. As a Pakistani national, travelling from Istanbul to Sydney by a single airline (Sichuan Airlines) with a single 20 kg luggage bag, do I still need to book any type of transit or any other visa for China?

2. I have read about the 24 hour visa free transit policy for China which is probably subjected to immigration officer permission at the airport. As this flight has a layover of 20 hours, am i eligible get that temporary permit to go out of the Chengdu airport as a Pakistani national?

Waiting for your reply, thank you!

Kind regards,

Hello,

1. Your itinerary guarantees that you do not need any kind of visa because you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. So, you are perfectly fine for this aspect.

2. You are looking here for a temporary entry permit in order to be allowed to exit the airport and not 24 hour visa free because you will be traveling through (via) China based on your 24 hour visa free transit status. In order to obtain a temporary entry permit, the first thing what will you do is to approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight itinerary and your accommodation booking if you plan to spend some time in the hotel. Now, you have to understand that the issuing of this permit is not a passenger's right, but a goodwill of the relevant officials. However, based on the length of your layover I would say that your chances to be granted a permit are really very good, so you should definitely proceed with it. By the way, this application is free of any charge. I wish you a pleasant journey.
