About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

HK to Shenzhen daytrip Australian passport

Hi I'm an australian citizen visiting HK. Am planning to go to Shenzhen with a friend from HK for a few hours. Am I eligible for the 24-Hour Visa-Free Transit if I'm coming back to HK within the day?
So I would just apply at the border inspection counter for this?

HK - Shenzhen - HK is not a transit, but a return trip, so you are not eligible for 24-hour visa free transit. But you are eligible for Shenzhen 5-day visa on arrival. To obtain it, you are advised to get to the border as early as possible, because there are tons of applicants there.
