About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Amsterdam- (transit in Hong Kong) - Shanghai-Hong Kong- Amsterdam

Hi, im looking to plan this route as it is the cheapest: Fly from Amsterdam to Shanghai, but with a 1:30 hrs transit in Hongkong. Stay in Shanghai for 5 days and then go to Hong Kong. I was wondering if this route is possible, since I technically country A, B and C are different, only that I have to transit shortly in country C during the flight between A and B.

You have noticed by yourself where the problem is. Based on the rules valid for 144 hour visa free transit, the immediate points before and after your mainland Chinese destination have to be in different countries/eligible entities. You itinerary has immediate points in:

Hong Kong before and Hong Kong after...

So, this is not eligible for any visa free transit option.

Suggestion for you is to make something similar, but to return to a nearby Macau instead of Hong Kong... So:

Amsterdam - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Macau - Hong Kong (easily reachable by bus or ferry) - Amsterdam
