Qualify for 144hr transit transfer (Japan - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Japan)

Just checking to make sure I understand this right.

So if I'm an American citizen and I wish to travel to Shanghai and Hong Kong for winter break, I would be eligible for the 144hr transit visa?

I would be essentially going from Japan to Shanghai (staying at Shanghai Disney) then flying from Shanghai to Hong Kong (staying at Hong Kong Disney) then flying back to Japan. I know Hong Kong would be fine, but just wanted to check Shanghai.
