Recent developments, especially with quite a high demand and long waiting hours at overland visa offices have, obviously, created a situation where Chinese authorities have started rejecting the citizens of certain countries like Indonesians and Filipinos. I cannot say anything conclusive about the situation with Malaysian citizens, but it seems that Malaysian citizens are in the same situation. I would honestly suggest you not to take your chances to visit a visa office at the border and be refused. Please, obtain a Chinese visa in advance or postpone your planned trip.
