About:How to Apply for a China Visa

Visa free transit question?

Hello! We are 4 US passport holders planning to visit China this summer.

Our itinerary is as follows:

Arrive in Beijing from Tokyo 12:05pm July 14th, depart Beijing (for Tokyo again) July 17 4:20 pm

Would we qualify for the 144 hour visa free transit?
(we realize we're just over 72 hours, at 76 hours...)

I'm afraid your itinerary is not eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit. This is a transit polity that requires to depart to another country or region and you are just shuttling between Tokyo and BJ. So it is suggested to apply for a Chinese visa in advance.
