About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Visa free travel

Hi, I hold a UK passport and am looking to visit Hainan from HK. I contacted officials in Sanya, Haikou and for Hainan and all stated travel agency isn’t necessary as visa can be arranged on arrival. Guidelines found on various websites online are conflicting and I’m not sure where to contact a travel agency to arrange or if it is entirely necessary, could someone advise?

It's advised to contact a travel agency to obtain the 30-day visa free visit.
I also called Hainan Immigration Bureau and the operator was unfamiliar about the VOA and recommended me to do the visa-free.

I am a chinese, you don't need to report your traveling infromation to any traveling agency. Just come and prepare the two ways tickets, and hotel confirmation letters. Then it is all good.

Thanks, I came from Hong Kong recently to Haikou and was able to get the visa free at the airport, nothing was asked at all about a travel agency. Appreciate it.

If I have properly understood you, you have used 30-day Free Visa Access to reach and to stay in Haikou (Hainan)? Did you maybe asked about Hainan visa on arrival? This is, by far, the most sough after visa because it, theoretically, allows its owner to travel to the mainland too.

Basically, if you have obtained 30-day Free Visa Access this also means that this option has restarted... Now, the main question is, who is eligible based on citizenship?

Hi,

I didn’t ask many questions, just followed the process as guided by the staff at the airport. There is a dedicated desk in Haikou immigration for the visa free for the “59 countries”, I would take it that it’s the same 59 countries you can find listed on official sites. On going from Hainan into the mainland, this is strictly forbidden and you will be reminded by staff at immigration that it isn’t permitted and you shouldn’t do it, Hainan is the only place you can visit and you can only exit to an international destination such as HK.

I was thinking that you are talking about 30-day visa free access... In reality, this options is so easily confused with 30 day Hainan VOA and this VOA is what so many are looking for because it formally allows its owner to travel to the mainland. In reality, and I am more than sure that this VOA is just a distant program that is far from implementation.
