About:Visa on Arrival

HK to Shenzhen

I am French. I traveled from Taiwan to HK, and then I would like to go Shenzhen (only Shenzhen). Do I have to apply for a Chinese visa from my home country or can I cross the border from HK to SZ with the 5 days-Shenzhen-visa ?

You can just appear at the border crossing, Luohu (Lo Wu) is suggested where visa office is open until 16:30. You will fill out the simple form, pay 168 CNY and you will be granted a 5 day Shenzhen visa. You are right when you speak just about Shenzhen because this visa allows you a stay and movement just within Shenzhen administrative boundaries. You can return back to Hong Kong by any transport option and by using any border crossing.
