If you are a Singaporean citizen, you are definitely eligible for 5 days Shenzhen visa on arrival. Please, have in mind that this is not a visa free travel, but a real visa, although obtained when you reach Luohu border crossing. With this visa you are limited to Shenzhen city administrative borders. Please, just have in mind that visa office at Luohu border is open until 16:30!
The option of visa free transit implies a flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and a return by ferry from Shekou port in Shenzhen to Macau. After Macau, you can easily return back to Hong Kong. This option of 144 hours visa free transit allows you to travel and stay within the entire Guangdong province. If you want this option, beside the flight from Hong Kong to Gunagzhou, you will have to buy a ferry ticket on InterJet website for a route from Shekou port in Shenzhen to Macau and you will have to have this ticket in your hand before your departure from Hong Kong and also at the time of landing in Guangzhou to prove that you in a real transit, i.e.:
Hong Kong - Guangdong province (mainland China) - Macau
