About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Question about the 72 hr visa

Hello! I will be in Taiwan for a week. I’m then wanting to fly from Taiwan on the 10th to Beijing— our flight would have a 20hr layover in Hong Kong so we’d get to Beijing on the 11th. We’d be in Beijing for 2 days & fly from Beijing to Europe on the 13th.

Would this work? Do you see any issues with this?

There are no issues at all. Basically, the segment that will be of interest for Chinese immigration officials will be:

Hong Kong - Beijing - Europe

Hong Kong is considered as a third region for 144 hours visa free transit in the same way as it is the case with Taiwan and Macau.

All you have to take care of is that your flights:

Hong Kong - Beijing
Beijing - Europe

Do not have any additional landing within mainland China.
