Issued S2 visa instead of M in Bangkok
My wife and I both work at a school in Henan province, we were issued PU letters and applied to the visa center in Bangkok for M visas to return earlier this month as we were stranded there due to covid. When we collected our passports we noticed they were S2 visas not M, the lady at the counter said this was correct and we thought nothing more of it. We are now in quarantine in Shanghai and have submitted the visas to the local FEB via our school in Henan province. Our work permits expired on Aug 22 and the school intended to convert our visas to a new work permit but are now being told we cannot do this with an S2. Having looked at the criteria to get an S2 we cannot fathom why they have given us that visa, we have no family members in China. Has anyone gone through Bangkok with the same problem? We still have original documents proving we applied for the M and our school is trying to find out why we got S2 visas. It seems bizarre.
