About:Zhangjiajie West Railway Station

Is it better to stay at Wulingyuan instead of Zhangjiajie City to visit all the sites?

Hi there,
We are 4 adults hoping to have a relaxing and exciting visits in Zhangjiajie.
Shall we spilt up our 5 nights stay to be 3 nights in Wulingyuan and last 2 nights in ZJJ City?
Or stay put in Wulingyuan since there are also Cable cars from Wulingyuan to Tianmen.
Are there any shops or activities in Wulingyuan Scenic areas in the evening?

Normally 3 days are OK to cover the most famous Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (also Wulingyuan Scenic Area) and people choose to stay near the attractions like east or south gate of Zhangjiajie Forest Park and Tianmen Mountain cable car station which is close to Zhangjiajie downtown area. As I know, there aren't shopping places in Wulingyuan in the evening.
