I asked for a 120-month visa, instead of a 30-day visa.. Was this a mistake? Is rejection likely?
I didn't know that a first-time visa applicant should only ask for a 30-day visa. I thought that it would be possible to apply for a 120-month visa, an option listed on the form, allowing me to visit China multiple times over the next 10 years. On the form, it said that the visa time limit is set at the discretion of the embassy, and that it may vary from the length of time requested by the applicant. For this reason I asked for 120 months, knowing that the length of the visa may be reduced. Since submitting the visa, I read in one of the question and answer sections that my visa request my be rejected because of the 120-month request. Is it possible to mention to the embassy representative that I thought that it would be permissible to request a 120-month visa? I hope that the visa isn't rejected because of the request, and that instead, my visa is granted for 30 days, or the length of the tour (less than 10 days).. Since I will not be in China for more than 10 days, is it possible to be in the country under the 10-day or less non-visa policy if that would enable me enter the China during the dates of the tour?
