About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

if Italian customers arrive in China after a tour in Mongolia

if Italian customers arrive in China after a tour in Mongolia then come from Mongolia before returning to Italy do they stay 2 nights in china do they have to do the regular china visa? thanks
