About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Is a 144 hour free visa valid for this trip

My wife and I are going on a cruise.
Our first mainland china visit is to Shangai on the 17thMarch arrive 0800 and our visit ends in Dailian on the 24th at 1700. This is a total rounded up to 6 days. 6full 24 hour days is exactly 144 hours
However since day 1 and day 6 will not be a full day in port the total will be less than 144.
Are we then visa exempt.

Sorry, you are not eligible for visa exemption because the last day, namely 24th also counts, so your layover is 7 days actually.
