About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from Amsterdam with small layover in Hong Kong to Shanghai.

Hi, I have a question about a flight we want to book.
We want to fly from Amsterdam, via Hong Kong, to Shanghai. The layover in Hong Kong is 1 or maybe 2 hours. Depends on the flight we book. After our 5 day stay in Shanghai we want to go to Hong Kong for 4 days. From there we fly back to Amsterdam. Are we eligible for the 144 hour transit visa for Shanghai? I have my doubts because you state that the flight into Shanghai must be non stop. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Kind regards Erik

Due to the layover in Hong Kong your itinerary is considered HK > SHnaghai > Hong Kong thus need a tourist (L) visa before the trip. You need to continue to a third country before going through HK again
