About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Return trip

My family and i are doing a trip to shanghai which will last 5 days the boarding a cruise ship for a week trip round Japan the returning to shanghai and flying home on I believe the same day.
What would be the best way for us to handle this with visas?

Are you flying in Shanghai from the UK?

If so, you don't need any kind of visa for both ways.
First part is covered by the 144h twov, return by 24h twov.

But you can't have another stop in China, please beware of that.
