About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit through Zhengzhou International airport

On 14th January we are due to fly on China Southern from London - Zhengzhou - Guangzhou - Auckland, with only a few hours at Zhengzhou and Guangzhou and don't intend to leave the airport. I can't seem to find whether we will be eligible for the 24 hour visa free transit by landing at Zhengzhou. Help ... I haven't got any other visa organised.

Part one:

Your itinerary is fine, but we have to take several details into consideration. You will arrive from London to Zhengzhou by CZ654 at 15:20 (3:20pm). This is important detail because you will have exactly 24 hours to leave China by using 24 hour visa free transit. In other words, if your flight from Guangzhou to Auckland departs from Guangzhou before 15:20 (3:20pm) of the next day, you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa. As I can see, China Southern has two daily departures from Guangzhou to Auckland. CZ305 departs at 00:20 (12:20am) and CZ335 departs at 14:20 or 14:30 (2:20pm or 2:30pm), so both of them are fine in your case because with both of them you will leave China before your allowed 24 hours elapse.

The reason why you are eligible only for 24 hour visa free transit is in the fact that you will have more than one stop in a row within mainland China.

Part two:

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in London that you will travel to Auckland via China using 24 hours visa free transit. After a short inspection of your flight tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane. At the check-in in London, you will inform yourselves about the luggage policy. It is possible that your luggage will be tagged all the way to Auckland, but it is also possible that you will have to collect it at some point and perform a recheck. Be informed about this detail.

Upon your landing in Zhengzhou, you will immediately approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit because your next section will be on purely domestic flight. This is all free of charge. You will also clear an immigration in Zhengzhou. After the mentioned formalities, you will proceed with your domestic flight to Guangzhou and from Guangzhou to Auckland.
