Does South African citizens qualify for 5 day VOA

I arived with my family at Luohu but was told South African citizens can't get the 5-day Visa. They told me go back to HK and apply for a normal Chinese Visa. To get back into HK was quite a mission and we had to wait almost an hour while security was checking our passports in an office without explaining anything. Eventually we crossed back again into a more tourist friendly Hongkong.

Nicholas, if you only have had asked us the question about the eligibility of South African citizens, you would have been spared from this, very unpleasant, situation at the border. In reality, we have had several questions about the eligibility of South African citizens regarding a Shenzhen VOA during a couple of previous months and they were informed about the fact that South African citizens are not eligible for this visa at the time being. I'm so sorry for your negative experience and I wish you all the best on your future travels.
