About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa

Hi, I am flying to Beijing in the spring, and will be leaving the next day to Vietnam. I will be flying back to Beijing on the way back to stay for another 24 hours. These two flights are round trip. So, USA->Beijing, then a separate round trip from Beijing->Vietnam. I was hoping for some good advice going forward on what visa will be needed. Thank you!

You don't need a visa at all. Both of your legs are eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area.

Which one of the two options will you use depends only on the length of your layover in Beijing. If your layover is less than 24 hours long, you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and if your layover is longer just a minute than 24 hours, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. In both cases you will travel absolutely visa free.

You should print out your flight tickets and have a confirmation of your accommodation booking, at least for the first overnight in Beijing, of course.
