24 hours visa or 144 hours

Actually, you are perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. By the way, this is not a visa, but a travel through China without a visa. You cannot use 144 hour visa free transit because your entire transit time is less than 24 hours.

You will print your flight tickets and bring those printouts with you. You will also book your accommodation and print out your accommodation booking confirmation.

Also, you will declare at check-in in Tokyo that you will travel to Vienna via Shanghai using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.
