About:Visa on Arrival

Australian passport/ Shenzhen stopover

I hold an Australian passport and will be travelling from Prague to Melbourne. Stopping at Chengdu (2hrs 30m) and SZ (9hrs 25m). I’m a little confused. Do I qualify for the 24 free transit and is there anything I have to do before boarding the plane to China? Also I want to look around SZ because my stopover is 9 hrs, do I have to apply for anything?

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare in Prague that you will travel to Melbourne via China using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of his tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane. You should ask during the check-in process about your luggage, i.e. about the destination where you will have to collect it and perform a recheck for the continuation of your flight. This is important even when you fly on a single ticket.

Upon your arrival in Chengdu, you will apply for a temporary entry permit at 24 hour visa free transit counter to be allowed to continue your journey because the following flight section will be a domestic flight. They will grant you a permit, don't worry.

Upon your landing in Shenzhen, you are free to exit the airport and to explore the city as you wish.

Basically, this is it and you really don't need to do anything more than I have described.
