About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I still enjoy the 72 Hour visa in Beijing if I have a short connection in Chongqing

We are flying from LA to New Delhi and have a 2 hour layover in Chongqing and then fly to Beijing. We are buying a separate flight to New Delhi and plan on staying in Beijing for 2 days. Does this still qualify for the 72 hour vise even though we have a layover in Chongqing? Thanks!

Unfortunately, not. Two consecutive stops within mainland China automatically limits you to 24 hour visa free transit. In other words, if you want to enjoy visa free transit, you will have to complete this portion of your itinerary within mainland China within 24 hours or obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa in advance if you want to retain actual itinerary.
