About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Trip to Tokyo

Hello,

I’m planning on taking a trip from the U.S. to Tokyo. My itinerary indicates a stop at Beijing airport from Monday (landing at 18:05) to Tuesday (leaving at 15:40). I wanted to know if I would qualify for a 24 hour visa free transit. I plan on renting a room at a hotel located at the actual airport as well.

Thank you for your help!

Yes, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa. You will print out your flight tickets and also an accommodation booking confirmation and have those printouts with you.

You will also declare at check-in counter in US that you will be traveling to Tokyo via Beijing using 24 hour visa free transit. Upon your landing in Beijing, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply, free of charge, for a temporary entry permit. You will present your flight ticket to Tokyo and also your accommodation booking confirmation. After a short inspection of your documents, you will be allowed to exit the airport.
