Bangkok - Shanghai - Bangkok / passport holder from Belgium

I am a Belgian Passport holder, having a return ticket Brussels-Bangkok, planning to stay in Shanghai for 4 days. I will hold a return ticket Bangkok-Shanghai to this end but will enter Thailand for 1 or 2 days before flying back to Brussels. Do I qualify for the 144 visa free transit?
Thank you

No, unfortunately, you don't.

There is a simple reason:

Bangkok - Shanghai - Bangkok

This is obviously not a transit, but just a simple round trip flight. We miss a third country...

To be allowed to perform this itinerary, you will need a Chinese visa obtained in advance or you will have to rearrange your flights. For example, your eligible itinerary for Shanghai could look like this:

Bangkok - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Bangkok

Of course, there are other options and variations, but at least now you know and you can bring good decisions.

thnak yoy !

one question regarding the suggested route 'Bangkok - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Bangkok'; does that mean I will need to pass the customs in Hong Kong or is a connection flight in Hong Kong sufficient ?
