About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144H exemption visa for Shanghai

I have a french new passport free of any visa stamps.
I am flying from paris (France) to Shanghai on British Airways with a connecting flight in London and direct flight to Shanghai. There I shall spent 2 nights in hotel + 1 night on board cruise ship at Wusongkou cruise terminal than leave for Japan by ship an no return to continental China but have a one day stop in Hong Kong.
Is this trip OK to get a 144H Exemption visa.
Thanks for your answer as I am a bit confused reading a lot of comments from travellers suffering difficulties with airlines not aware of exemption visa at the registration desk in paris or london

Your itinerary is really simple. You are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area because of your itinerary:

London - Shanghai - Japan

You will print out your flight and cruise tickets and have those printouts with you. You will declare in London that you will travel to Japan via Shanghai using 144 hour visa free transit. You will immediately present your tickets and after a short time, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Shanghai, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit counter where you will fill out the blue form. After a short inspection, you will get a sticker in your passport and be allowed to exit the airport and to spend your time as you wish until your boarding for your cruise. One more detail... It is advisable to have a confirmation of your accommodation booking in Shanghai because you will be asked for this detail.

In reality, not so complicated at all.
