Entering China via Taiwan/Q visa

Hi, Me and my boyfriend (both with Dutch nationality) are planning a trip to Taiwan for travel and China for family visit (2 weeks). Should we apply for a visa in the Netherlands when we will be entering China flying from Taipei?

And since I still have my grandparents in China, I'll be applying for a Q2 visa. Is this type of visa also applicable for my boyfriend? Or is a tourist visa more applicable?

You should apply for a visa in the Netherlands.
Q2 is not applicable to your bf. He can apply for a tourist visa.
