About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Beijing transit - return trip

Hello,

I have a 9 hour stopover in Beijing and hoping to make use of the 72 hour visa free transit to explore a little.

My return flight also has the same stopover length - can I make use of the visa free transit again a second time?

Thanks!

Actually, you cannot use 72 hours visa free transit because it has been replaced in Beijing by 144 hour visa free transit and also because you will be already traveling on 24 hour visa free transit. The reason is simple, your transit time in Beijing will be less than 24 hours and that implies that you will travel through China using 24 hours visa free transit.

In other words, you are absolutely free to apply for a, please pay attention, temporary entry permit upon your landing in Beijing at 24 hour visa free transit counter. You will be probably granted a permit, but you have to know that this permit does not belong to passengers' rights, but depends entirely upon immigration authorities discretion. Also, you can apply for the same permit at the same place. You are absolutely free to do that.
