About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa Free Transit Policy

Do I need to apply for a transit visa for less than 24 hours connection at Beijing Capital Airport with a Pakistani passport or i can get a visa-free transit stamp at the Beijing airport? I have a booking for transit hotel but I'm not sure, do I need a visa to leave the airport? I found this link below, and according to this Pakistan passport is eligible for 144 visa-free transit, I just want to make things clear. Can someone help?

If you are traveling on a Pakistani passport, then you are allowed only for 24 hour visa free transit. So, if your itinerary is:

US - China - Pakistan

And your entire transit through China, from your first landing, until your last departure is less than 24 hours long, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. Here just one remark... You are not allowed to travel via Urumqi within 24 hour visa free transit.

To be allowed to exit the airport is another subject. To be allowed to do that, you have two options:

- To apply for a temporary entry permit upon your arrival in Beijing, but you have to know that the issuing of this permit is always upon total discretion of Chinese immigration authorities
- To obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa before your travel and this is the only way that could secure you to be allowed to exit the airport. Anyway, I seriously doubt whether does it really pay to cross the entire procedure of visa obtaining for a relatively short layover in Beijing.

Now, when you know your options, you will make your own decision.
