Hi, thx for your response. I am not a Canadian citizenships and live in Canada as a refugee and use Canada refugees travel document. So if I understood correct I don’t need a visa ( applicant for visa) to transit though Shanghai airport if I stay lees then 24 hours at the airport?

It would be of great help if you have mentioned your citizenship. Never mind... You can travel from Canada to Thailand via Shanghai using 24 hour visa free transit for certain. So, regardless of your citizenship, you don't need any kind of visa if your entire transit time in Shanghai is less than 24 hours. Quite the contrary, if your layover is longer than 24 hours, depending on your citizenship, you will need a Chinese visa obtained in advance or you can enjoy 144 hour visa free transit.

Rose, you have perfectly understood the rule for 24 hour visa free transit in China :)

You will just print out your flight tickets and have the printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Canada that you will travel to Thailand via Shanghai using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane. Please, keep in mind the visa regulation for you in Thailand because the Chinese authorities will definitely look at this detail with attention.
