About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US -> HK -> Shanghai

Hi,

Can I travel to Hong Kong from the United States. Stay in Hong Kong for a couple of days, and then fly to Shanghai for a weekend as a tourist and then fly back to Hong Kong without a Visa? Would I be eligible to apply for the 144 hour visa exemption?

You need a visa for that. Hong Kong-Shanghai-Hong Kong is a visit to China and not a transit, and therefore is not eligible for any kind of transit without visa.
