About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144-hr visa free transit

Hi,
In November 2019, I will travel from US to Japan to take cruise from Yokohama. We will visit some islands in Japan for a week then stop over Shanghai for 14 hrs. After that, the ship will stop at South Korea.
With this route, am I eligible for China 144 hr visa free transit to enter Shanghai without visa?

Your itinerary:

Japan - Shanghai - South Korea

And with a stop in Shanghai that is less than 24 hours long, you will be definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

By the way, 144 hour visa free transit is allowed when you stop within China is longer than 24 hours. In reality, it does not make a difference for you because you will be allowed to enjoy your stay in the same way with the mentioned 24 hours visa free transit.
