About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Hr Visa Policy

My wife and I will fly from the UK (London) to Shanghai, and stay there for 2 nights before then flying on to NZ (direct). We will then fly back with a change in Shanghai, will be ok for 2 x 144 Hr policy?

Your itinerary:

UK - Shanghai - New Zealand
New Zealand - Shanghai - UK

If the above mentioned are your all stops, you will be definitely eligible for visa free transit in Shanghai twice. During your first stop in Shanghai, you will enjoy 144 hour visa free transit and during your second stop, you will be probably just covered by 24 hour visa free transit because, as it appears from your post, you will have in Shanghai just a transfer from one to the other flight. Of course, if your stay during your second stop in Shanghai will be longer than 24 hours, you will be again eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.
