JoAnn, I'm afraid we have a problem within your itinerary. It would be just fine if there would be a direct flight from Beijing to Kathmandu, but unfortunately this is not a case, so you will definitely have an additional stop somewhere in between and if it is a stop within mainland China, you are limited to just 24 hour visa free transit. In other words, if you intend to stay in Beijing for 2 days and proceed to Kathmandu via some other mainland Chinese airport, you will need a visa obtained in advance!

Vietnam - Beijing - US is perfectly fine and eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, but again, if there are no additional stops en route, especially within the mainland China!
