About:Overstaying in China & Penalty

Help, overstaying in China

I have a friend who have 3 months visa but due to some circumstances he have stayed for more than two years now, but his in trouble.
He got arrested and I really want to know his penalty and is there a way I can help him?

He might be required to pay the fine and then be repatriated to his own country. His overstaying record may be recorded. There will be troubles when he applys for visa to China again. You could help him with the fine.

Legally it s not supposed to exceed 10,000 CNY.

No fine is required if your friend over for that long time.Unless he was caught breaking the law then he will have to pay fine for that.But not overstaying,when you overstay for a very long time you only face detention then later on deported to your country. Be aware that some chinese policemen just wanna take money from foreignors in detention but its out of the law.They'll ask you to pay for the air ticket for the deportation of your friend.
