About:Overstaying in China & Penalty

Re-entry in China after overstaying

I overstayed in China unintentionally, just because I was trapped. I paid for my work visa extension while I was there, it was delayed, later on rejected because I was black. That they were no longer renewing visas for Africans. I had spent all the money for that process. I couldn't get any more even to pay the fine and buy ticket for exit. I stayed more than 6 months until I got the money, I paid fine and ticket and left in 2019 but I wasn't blacklisted or repatriated. Now I want to travel back for business purposes. What can I do?

You have not been blacklisted, so theoretically you can apply for a visa again. However, overstaying is considered a bad record, and the visa officer may question your credit and your reentry purpose.

In my opinion, you need to explain the reason for the last overstay when applying the visa, such as being unable to leave in a timely manner due to a shortage of funds caused by visa renewal rejection, and emphasize that you have borne the fine and left the country in compliance with regulations.

Hi,
I just saw this reply.
My case is different. I travelled to China on a 30 days Visa. I entered China on 28 June 2009 and Exited China on 9 July 2009. Since than I have not gone to China. I just applied again for China Visa and they rejected it. I made enquiry to find out and they said I have over stayed before. That's totally not correct.
What do I do now?

30day visa? Was it the validity or the duration of stay? How long was the duration of stay of you old visa? If the duration of stay was longer than 12 days, then you didn't overstay. I think you need to explain to the Embassy to get a new visa.
