About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

flying London to Hanoi with 10 hour layover in Beijing do I qualify for 72hr transit visa

Hi I'm travelling from London to Hanoi via Beijing, do I qualify for 72hr transit visa and do I need to collect my luggage when leaving the airport, we are flying with air china on all flights.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit because you will stay in Beijing for a period less than 24 hours. Since you are traveling with Air China all the way, I assume on a single (through) ticket, I would expect that your luggage will be checked all the way to your final destination - Hanoi. Anyway, you will know this detail definitely at your check-in in London where you will declare that you will travel to Hanoi via China using 24 hour visa free transit.

Upon your arrival in Beijing, you will apply for 24 hour free entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport and to make a short stroll in the city.
