About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Travel from Hanoi to Sanya

I am a UK citizen travelling around Asia, visiting Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hainan, China, Japan in that order.
I noticed all flights from Hanoi to Sanya go via mainland China. Is this because Vietnam isn't in the 59 countries?
Now that we can visit China for 30 days instead of 10, is it ok to go from Vietnam to Sanya for a week (via Guangzhou) and later fly to mainland China for another week, if I have the ticket to fly from China to Japan?

Hainan belongs to Mainland China and flights have no relations with Vietnam not being the 59 countries.
You can get the 30-day visa free acess to Hainan only if you fly directly to Hainan Province from a foreign country or region. Sorry that you cannot get the 30 days because there is no direct flight from Vietnam to Hainan, via GZ is not acceptable. You can only apply the 240h visa free transit to get 10 days in Mainland China (Hainan included) with the ticket to Japan within 10 days.
