About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

do I need a visa question?

I am traveling from the US-Beijing-onward probably to Taiwan. I hold a US passport and it is valid until 2025. If my flight arrives in Beijing Oct 3 and I leave the night of Oct 4th to go to Taiwan will the visa be accepted? Is there a phone number i can call to confirm this from a higher official before i book plane tickets.

Its not a visa but a transit without a visa. There is no one to call to confirm sadly.

USA > Beijing > Taiwan is allowed without a visa up to 144 hours. Taiwan is considered a third region for transit purposes. Any other mainland china connections, then a visa will be required.
