About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

free visa 144h when having a stopover (5 hours) in shanghai before arriving at Guangzhou

Can I use the 144h free transit visa when I arrive at Guangzhou airport with a flight from Europa which has a stopover (for a few hours) at Shanghai. I fly out from Guangzhou to Bangkok. So is a stop-over (for a few hours) a problem.

Actually, it is a crucial problem because you have to accomplish your entire transit through China within 24 hours, if you intend to travel using visa free scheme (24 hour visa free transit) or if you intend to stay for some longer time in Guangzhou area, you will have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.
