About:Visa on Arrival

Shenzhen VOA

Hi

I was wondering if I have never applied for a China Visa is that a problem at the border of Luohu for the Shenzhen VOA? Because I have a HK ID, which I use to enter HK. But I don’t have a HK passport, so I travel with an UK passport. I heard stories that they will check the passport for previous Visa’s, if you don’t have that then you can not apply for the Shenzhen VOA.

You can definitely apply and obtain a Shenzhen VOA at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing regardless of the fact that you have not been granted a Chinese visa previously. The so called information that you cannot obtain a Shenzhen VOA without a Chinese visa have been granted to you previously is a kind of an urban legend. Just take a train to Lo Wu, walk to Luohu and apply for a Shenzhen VOA. After that, just continue by Shenzhen metro to the center of the city.
