Part one:
Before your application at Shenzhen airport for Shenzhen visa, you have to be aware of several details:
- Your flight to Shenzhen has to be a direct one, without any other stop within mainland China, from a foreign country
- You will declare at the check-in in the X country from where you will depart to Shenzhen that you intend to apply for a Shenzhen VOA to be allowed to board the plane
- After your stay in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone area, you can depart from Shenzhen by air to some other country, but again directly, without any other stop within mainland China or alternatively to Hong Kong or Macau overland or by ferry
Now, when you know this I would advise you, especially if your next country after Shenzhen is a country different that the one from where you are arriving to Shenzhen or if your next destination is Hong Kong or Macau, that you use 144 hour visa free transit. Why? The reason is simple. Airport staff in most world airports are familiar with 144 hour visa free transit that is valid for travels to particular parts of China, like Guangdong province where Shenzhen airport is, but they are not so familiar with Shenzhen VOA. In other words, it could happen that they make you some troubled during your plane boarding.
