About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Australian Citizen travelling via Beijin

Hi I am an Australian citizen travelling to Busan, South Korea. On my way back to Sydney from Busan I will be stopping over in Beijing and I have around 11 hours to spare. I have been reserved a hotel from from my airline but I was told that since the hotel is outside the airport I must be able to travel out from the airport. Does the 72hr free visa apply for me as well?

To make it more clear my flight is
Busan->Beijing then Beijing -> Sydney

24 hours transit without visa applies to you (ie, you don't need a visa). Whether you can leave the airport or not is dependent on immigration issuing you a temporary entry permit, which is at their discretion.
