About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

questions on Residence permit

Dear sir/madam,

I was just curious if you could answer two questions.
1. I am flying the 28th of august and will first go to my grandparents (with a stopover in Shanghai the 29th). The 3rd of september I go back to Shanghai to stay and study there. The "within 24 hours", does this apply from the 3rd of september onwards or should I have done this the 29th (day of stopover).
2. Is it also to register at the police station without appointment? If not, how can I make an appointment by myself?

First, you have to do it on 29th, August. You don't need to make a appointment in advance, just ask and find one nearby Public Security Bureau Exit and Entry Administration office before going.

Thank you for replying! Do you also know how long it would take to register? As I arrive around 5:45 am and have to departure again around 9:40 am?
