You are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit under following conditions:

- Your flight from Hong Kong to Beijing has to be nonstop (without any additional landing in mainland China)
- You should leave Beijing to a third country, different than both mainland China and Hong Kong on a flight that does not have any additional landing in mainland China

So, if the above conditions are fulfilled, you will apply for 144 hour visa free transit. Keep in mind, this is not a visa, but a visa free transit. There is no visa at all.
