About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Singapore - Shanghai - Amsterdam

Hi! I am travelling from SIN to PVG and from there to Amsterdam. I plan to stay in PVG for business for max 3 days.
I am from the Netherlands, and as far as I can see I am eligible for the 144 hours visa.
However, I read on a travel website that Chinese border patrol is checking specifically for passports with stamps out of Turkey and refuse 144 hours visa based on this.
I travelled to Turkey in 2015 for 7 days vacation, so my passport has a visa entry for this.
can you advise how I can best proceed.

Manon, I also heard of such saying. To prevent any unhappy things, I advise you to go and apply for a visa. When going through the China border, you can still try if you will be given the 144-h visa-free stay permit. Only if being rejected, you can use your visa to enter.

The immigration won't let you stay at the airport for 3 days.
You're fine for the 144h twov even with a Turkey stamp.
Just some travellers on the 24h twov got denied and had to stay inside the airport.

Of course. People tend to exaggerate this issue. Since this stamp is 4 years old, everything that could happen are two or three questions more about this stamp and essentially, the immigration officer is wishing to hear exactly the mentioned explanation. It was a holiday because it is true and you will be allowed to exit the airport.
