About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit and 144 hr Visa

Could you let me know if I would qualify for a 144hr Visa considering I would transit though Shanghai before returning to visit Shanghai at the end of my trip.
Trip info below:
- Europe to Tokyo via Shanghai (Layover only 2h30 in Shanghai before flight to Tokyo)- TRANSIT VISA?
- Flight back to Shanghai where I plan to stay 5 days before departing back to Europe - 144hr VISA?

Both is these are eligible as long as Shanghai is the only Chinese city you will transit. One is allowed to Japan (24 hour transit, since it's same day connection) , one is allowed back to Europe (144 hour transit)

ps is not a visa but a transit without Visa. Don't mention visa because that will just cause confusion.
