About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Hi Visa question

I fly from the UK to Helsinki and then onto shanghai on the 16th July, I board Spectrum of the Seas on the same day and Cruise to Japenese ports for 7 days returning to Shanghai on the 23rd July. I plan to stay in Shanghai for 3 days and fly back to the UK on the 26th July, again via Helsinki. I have the boarding cards for all flights and cruise tickets, will I be ok with two 144hr visa's. I would appreciate any assistance as I am getting mixed messages.

Kind regards

Gordon

In principle, you are eligible for 24 hours visa free transit during your first stop in Shanghai and for 144 hours visa free transit during your second stops. Anyway, there are several conditions to be fulfilled, although I assume that your itinerary has met all of them. They are:

- Your flights to and from Shanghai should not have any additional landing within mainland China
- Your first port call, immediately after your departure from Shanghai, should not be in mainland China
- Your last port call, immediately before your arrival in Shanghai, should not be in mainland China

So, you can easily check the above mentioned details and if you are fine with them, you are perfectly qualified for 24 and 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai and you should not look elsewhere for any additional explanation. By the way, I suggest you to use correct terminology because you will not enjoy "144hr visa", but you will travel using 144 and 24 hours visa free transit. No visas at all!
