About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Hi, I'm going from Guangzhou to HK 144h using Visa

And was trying to buy the ticket at the MTR website, but there is an ad about the e-ticket can only be collected in HK, so I cant use this option?

One more uqestion, is this ticket booked online issued with passengers names? Im not founding how to issue with full name to show on arrival ang get the free 144h visa.

Actually, this is no correct information. It is definitely possible to collect the ticket in Guangzhou at Grand Palace Hotel - Hotel Lobby (No. 148, Linhe Zhong Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou). This is specifically mentioned on the MTR website. Also, it is written the following: "MTR Corporation appoints Grand Palace Hotel to provide ticket collection service to passengers who have bought Guangdong Line Through Train tickets via the MTR Intercity e-Ticketing/Tele-ticketing system/Smartphone ticketing app from now on."

Anyway, I will double check this detail because I have also seen the mentioned ad, although I am more than positive that the above statement from the MTR website is correct. I hope I will be able to post you confirmed information within the 24 hours. Thanks for your patience.

Afonsao, I have definitely good news :).

It is undoubtedly allowed to book Guangzhou–Kowloon through train at the relevant website and to collect the ticket in Guangzhou at Grand Palace hotel at the above mentioned address without any problem, but you need your credit card you have bought your ticket with to be presented as a proof of your legitimate purchase and your identity too. There you will be handed your real paper ticket that you will use for train boarding.

The reason why they always mention Hong Kong collection points is a clumsy way of notifying the people, mostly those from Hong Kong because this is Hong Kong based website, not to arrive without their credit card at the ticket collection place. A bit too Hong Kong focued way of notifying the customers that are not all from Hong Kong. OK, the most important detail is that this website is useful for people using 144 hours visa free transit because they can book their tickets online in advance and also collect them in Guangzhou. I repeat, not at the railway station, but at Grand Palace hotel. Opening time of the mentioned collection point is from 09:00 (9:00 am) to 20:00 (8:00 pm).

It's true that on the ticket used for travel on Guangzhou–Kowloon through train there is no name on the ticket and also there is no name on e-confirmation (and e-voucher) that MTR sends you and that will be used to present at collection point for obtaining a real, paper ticket, but in reality an e-confirmation is valid as such for visa free transit scheme because it shows exact time of train departure. Anyway, to be on the safe side and to have a peace of mind, I suggest you to make a booking for this particular train on several other reliable websites where you will have to insert your name and passport number and that particular details will be visible on e-confirmation that you will receive in your inbox. Like this, all the possible problems with nameless e-confirmation will disappear. Also, you will carry this e-confirmation through your entire trip just in case that somebody asks you for some kind of proof for your 144 hours visa free transit itinerary. I hope that this detail is now resolved :). By the way, your questions are very logical because they can save many travelers from possible troubles during the journey process.
