About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chengdu

ZURICH - (BEIJING) - CHENGDU - SINGAPORE

Hello,
a flight from Zurich to Chengdu with transit (not a stop) in Beijing would be eligible for the 144 hours visa free? I will not leave transit area in Beijing airport. Does this still count as coming from a third country?
Thank you

Thank you for the answer. Another question: flying to and from Chengdu with tickets from two different airlines would be a problem for the transit visa?

Thank you. One last question, i'm a little confused about the allowed area of stay when applying for visa free in Chengdu: for example am I allowed to have a one-day trip to Leshan Buddha and mount Emei or other destinations within Sichuan? Can I also sleep there or do I have to always go back to Chengdu for the night? Thanks

No, unfortunately not. You are definitely not allowed to have two stops in different transit zones of mainland China. So, you can use this option just for your transit to Singapore, but within 24 hours time duration only in mainland China. In case that your tickets have already been bought, you will have to obtain Chinese visa before your departure from Zurich.

No, definitely not. The rules that regulate 144 hours visa free transit do not require any special type of flight tickets, so you are absolutely free to use separate, one way, round trip, different airlines or any other type of flight tickets. Everything that matters is your itinerary and your citizenship. So, you have to rearrange your itinerary in order to become eligible or obtain pre-arranged Chinese visa for your actual itinerary.

I'm sorry but neither Mount. Emei nor Leshan Buddha belongs to Chengdu so that you cannot visit them. However, you can visit Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Mount Qingcheng.
